We deployed a small grab sampler today to try and collect surface sediments from one of the terraces we are dredging. A grab is basically two, large, open jaws that snap shut and scoop up sediment when it hits the bottom. This picture shows the grab being recovered by Gene Pillard, Res. Technician.
