Alvin pilot-in-training Noel Masias, after today's dive. On a so-called "PIT" dive, Alvin is co-driven by the pilot and pilot-in-training. Alvin holds three people so only one scientist dives as an observer on a "PIT" dive. Most trainees take more than a dozen training dives before becoming pilots.
