One of the interesting rocks recovered in dredge 66. It has a manganese crust on top of an iron hydroxide layer (which was once the volcanic glass layer that has now weathered). The vesicles inside the rock have been filled in by calcite of various colors (white and yellow). This sample was recovered from the west flank of Floreana Island. It looks much older than many of the other seafloor volcanic rocks we have recovered on this expedition.
