We have a TV set in the Main Lab where we watch the seafloor go by underneath us. Just imagine -- over a mile and a half below the ship, we are towing Argo II, which is about as long as a mid-sized car and weighs twice as much, only 10 meters from the bumpy volcanic seafloor! We are seeing features and critters on the ocean floor that are as small as a few inches. Captain Nemo from Jules Verne’s “20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” would be jealous of the technology we are using to explore the seafloor!
