Clare Williams is responsible for plotting the positions of the ship and the DSL-120 sonar fish during her watch. She is discussing how the depth of the seafloor might change as the survey progresses with Rob Palomares, who is controlling the winch. Rob needs to know if the seafloor is rising or falling in front of the vehicle so that he can adjust the length of the towing cable to keep the sonar fish about 100 meters above the bottom.
